What is USB Type C Connector
So recently we have seen a great hype on the new USB Type C connector. First Apple introduced it in the new 12 inch macbook and now Android Marshmallow also comes with its support. So lets see why everyone is so excited about it.
USB Type C is Powerful
USB type C connector has much high power out , upto 20v ( 100w ) and 5A . To compare this power you can consider that most notebooks require 60W charger. So in future we will see more laptops and tabs being powered by USB Type C . The new macbook already uses it for charging. It would be really nice to have one cable for everything.
Have more power means that we can see larger external hard drives powered with USB.
USB Type C is Fast
USB Type C has transfer speeds of upto 10 Gbps. Compared to USB 3.0 which has 5 Gbps speed and USB 2.0 which is mostly in use today has 480 Mbps Speed.
USB Type C is Flexible
Its flexible in a sense that you dont have to worry about plugging it in up side down. It can be plugged both ways.
USB Type C has bi-directional power
This means that you can actually charge other devices from your device. This can actually turn into a lot of confusion. If you connect two phones with USB Type C .. who will charge who 🙂
