UMI X2S: The First True Octa-Core Smartphone
MediaTek and the UMI X2S
This Year in June MediaTek announced the manufacturing of a first ever true Octa-Core processor, but wait a second what does true and first ever mean?? Didn’t Samsung have a Octa-core processor already announced and out in the market….well the truth is Samsung does have the Octa-core Exynos 5 in its Samsung S4s’ and Note 3s’ but they still haven’t been able to utilize all eight cores of the chip, even with a recent firmware upgrade it didn’t work out, and since they haven’t mentioned anything of the sort I guess they are keeping it for their upcoming flagship phone the Galaxy S5.
So in reality MediaTek has truly the first fully functioning octa-core processor and the cherry on top is that Chinese Smartphone manufacturing company UMI has already installed the new Octa-core chipsets by MediaTek in their new Smartphone the UMI X2S. This news was recently announced by the company in an unveiling in Hong Kong.
The processor is known as the MTK6592 and average clock speed is supposedly between 1.5GHz to 2GHz. It is rumored to have Antutu Scores matching those of the heavy Snapdragon processors scores are foretold to be between 26,000 to 30,000+
About the UMI X2S, it is running on the MTK 6592 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, has 2 GB Ram, also rumored to have a Power VR Series 5XT GPU. Rest of the specs include a 5” full 1080p gorilla class covered display, 32 GB internal storage, and a 13Mpixel Camera with Sony lens, and NFC connectivity.
In contrast to the impressive specs the price of the UMI X2S smartphone is rumored to be quite affordable and comparatively cheap.
