Samsung Gear VR grabs its own internet browser
We all know about the Samsung’s Gear VR which is a virtual reality headset powered by Oculus has been released a couple of weeks ago. It came with a very short list of applications that are compatible with the Gear VR, even it was not possible to surf internet while having them on. But Samsung has now made efforts to launch a dedicated internet browser for this headset which is called as ‘Samsung Internet for Gear VR’.
It is basically a virtual reality internet browser that appears to have a main purpose of allowing its user stream online videos from the global network such as YouTube, Dailymotion and many other websites with a general internet access. Samsung Internet for Gear VR is capable 360-degree viewing, 3D video streaming and plays even HTML5 video from any website.
This app also includes voice recognition feature to help with text input and has an on-screen keyboard as well. You would be impressed by the ‘Gaze mode’ is this application. This mode allows its users to make selections by just staring at them instead of having to tap on them with an external trackpad while working with the on-screen keyboard remains to be on screen.
According to the recent updates, the beta version of this application will soon be available in the Oculus App Store for download tonight, 2nd of December. The devices supported are those which are currently compatible with the Samsung Gear VR.
