Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs. Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung Galaxy S5 Vs Samsung Galaxy S4
Hi, as you must of heard that Samsung recently released its Galaxy S5 smartphone, now we here at phone guru reviews have been getting a lot of information, mainly by people who are not happy with the new Galaxy s5, saying it’s not much different than the Galaxy s4. Now being smartphone reviewers we just had to dig into this information and find out if that truly is the case. So here is a brief round-up of the differences between the Galaxy s4 and the Galaxy s5 and a mention of the s5’s pros and cons.
Samsung Galaxy s4:
First we’ll start off with the Galaxy s4, the s4 was a trendsetter for a lot of new features and technology. It was a big jump from the Galaxy s3 in terms of hardware and features, such as gesture control and screen scrolling via eye movement. The display tech was truly amazing featuring a Full HD Super AMOLED Screen, with a mind boggling 441ppi (pixels per inch), the quadcore processor along with the 2GB RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU was also a combination that made the S4 a device not to be taken lightly. Also Samsung’s trademark health accessories which could be used via the S4 known as S Health was a leap in using mobile tech to benefit and support a healthy life style. The Samsung Galaxy s5 which just recently launched has entered the realm of the phablet or an attempt was made by Samsung the s5 has a 5.1” screen. We have given the specs of the s5 below for you to compare along with the specs of the S4.
As far as basic hardware is concerned it is a bit disappointing, I mean you gave us a faster processor, why not some extra RAM to play with? The Note 3 released before the s5; and it has 3GB, even the pixels per inch (ppi) in the display have been reduced in comparison to the S4, the gpu is the same as well.
As far as build concerned there are differences, notably the weight and design, the S5 is heavy as it has a metal lining to it and the whole set is waterproof and dust proof. The metal lining gives it a solid touch as compared to its predecessor.
In addition to the metal lining and waterproofing they have added a fingerprint scanner and a heartbeat monitor to the S5, so you can check your heartbeat by just touching the sensor on the back.
One major leap they took was in camera resolution just for the rear camera, the new camera is 16Mpixel and can record in QFHD or 4K @ 30fps. The front camera is 2Mpixel similar to the S4.
So the difference between the two devices can be summed up with the S5 Pros and Cons:
– Waterproof and dustproof
– Solid Build
– Better Camera
– Faster Processor
– Same RAM
– Decreased Pixel Density
– Same Screen Resolution
– Same Design
– Same functionality, not a great technology jump.
One thing we couldn’t help but notice while researching the differences was that the Note 3 not the Samsung s5 seems like the Samsung flagship smartphone ( Phablets Way of the Future??. ) . Also instead of mentioning this device as a different model it would have been better had they just branded it as a beefed up version of the S4 and called it S4 ulitimate or something as Samsung has already released many devices under the S4 umbrella like the S4 active, S4 mini, etc…..
Another note that we want to make here is that looking at the history of Samsung Galaxy phones, they make a tech leap on every intermittent device, take for example the S2 , and then the S4, now if our theory is correct we’ll see a major tech and functionality jump upon the release of the Galaxy S6.
The Samsung Galaxy s5 is a great device, but it’s not that far off from the S4.
